This conference will bring together an exclusive group of 100 of the top CFOs and COOs for a half day conference to discuss best practices, insights, and ideas with peers.
Alexander Cuomo, is the Chief Financial Officer of NGN Capital. Mr. Cuomo joined NGN in 2008. Prior to joining NGN, he practiced accounting and tax matters primarily for high-net worth individuals, family offices, partnerships and corporations. Mr. Cuomo is responsible for financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit compliance for both the U.S. and German Funds. His other responsibilities include portfolio company valuation, internal strategy and analytics, budgeting, and investor relations. Alexander completed his undergraduate degree at Ithaca College and his Master of Science in Finance from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University in New York City.
Brett is the Chief Financial Officer of KLS Diversified Asset Management LP (“KLS”) and is responsible for KLS’ year-end audits, financial statement preparation, tax statement preparation and the overall finance and accounting function. Prior to KLS, in 2007 Mr. Lipsky joined Centerlight Capital Management as an equity volatility trader. During Centerlight’s start-up, he assisted in all aspects of the funds’ launch, including creating processes for the middle office, back office, and financial control. He also served as the funds’ controller and assisted with month-end profit and loss and NAV preparation. In 2005, Mr. Lipsky joined Archeus Capital Management, a $3 billion hedge fund, as a client relations associate. At Archeus, he assisted with the year-end audits and served as a product controller to generate the NAV for two funds. He ultimately took responsibility as liquidating controller of the funds and management company. Mr. Lipsky started his career working in the Transaction Advisory Group for Ernst & Young in 2003 as a financial modeler. In this capacity, he built complex custom financial models for business planning and development, business analysis, and M&A integration. Mr. Lipsky earned a BBA, with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting, in 2003 from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He is a CFA Charterholder and a current member of NYSSA.
Cyrus Borzooyeh has been the Chief Financial Officer of Reservoir Capital Group since January 2010. From February to December 2009, Mr. Borzooyeh was a consultant to Reservoir focused on implementing certain technologies to create operational efficiencies. Prior to joining Reservoir, Mr. Borzooyeh was a Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Cyrus Capital Partners, L.P. from 2005 to 2009. Before joining Cyrus Capital, Mr. Borzooyeh was the Chief Financial Officer of King Street Capital Management, L.L.C from 2000 to 2005. Mr. Borzooyeh’s first private sector position was as a fund accountant at Tiger Management, L.L.C. from 1998 to 2000. Previous to that, Mr. Borzooyeh was at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP (now known as KPMG LLP) in their Financial Services line of business, where his experience included auditing mutual funds, common trust funds, and collective investment funds, as well as consulting financial services clients. Mr. Borzooyeh began his career at Goldstein Golub Kessler and Company, P.C. (now merged into McGladrey & Pullen LLP), a public accounting firm, where he spent approximately half of his time on hedge fund clients. Mr. Borzooyeh graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting from Binghamton University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Borzooyeh currently serves on the Binghamton University School of Management Dean’s Metro Advisory Board and on the New York hedge fund chapter of the Financial Executives Alliance’s advisory board (formerly known as the Hedge Fund CFO Association). He has been a member of both boards since 2008.
Dov Braun joined Shenkman Capital in 2016 as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer responsible for the financial, tax and operations for the firm and its accounts. Prior to joining Shenkman, Dov spent nearly 13 years at EisnerAmper LLP where he was a Partner in the Financial Services Assurance Practice. At EisnerAmper LLP, Dov had unique experience working on complex transactions and related tax structuring, numerous financial instruments, internal controls and regulatory matters, in addition to other responsibilities. Dov graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Touro College. In addition to his responsibilities at Shenkman and spending time with his family, Dov spends a significant amount of time dedicated to bettering his community offering his expertise to multiple not-for- profits.
Prior to rejoining Omega in 2006, Ed was the Chief Financial Officer at Seneca Capital, a New York based hedge fund, from 2005 to February 2006. Prior to Seneca, Ed was the Chief Financial Officer at two Connecticut based hedge funds from 2002 to 2005. Prior to this, Ed was previously at Omega as Co-Controller and then as Co-CFO from 1993-2002. From 1988 to 1993, Ed was a supervisor at the public accounting firm of Goldstein Golub Kessler & Company, P.C. As a certified public accountant, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society for Certified Public Accountants. Ed, who received a BS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany in 1988, resides in Mahopac, New York with his wife, Lisa, and their four children.
Erin Kogan, CFA co-founded MANA Partners LLC, a quantitative trading company, in 2015 and MANA Tech, the company’s fintech subsidiary, in 2017. Ms. Kogan manages all of the firms’ financial, operational, human resource and compliance activities. Previously, Erin was at Knight Capital Group for five years, where she worked as a Program Trader, and subsequently as a Relationship Manager. Erin studied Mathematics and Economics at Rutgers, where she also completed her MS in Quantitative Finance. She also received a second MS in Finance and Economics from Columbia University.
Mr. Kravetz joined Contrarian in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Contrarian, Mr. Kravetz served as a Director and Fund Controller for MSDC Management, L.P., an SEC-registered investment adviser formed in 2009 by the principals of MSD Capital, L.P., a family office established in 1998 to exclusively manage the capital of Michael Dell and his family. Mr. Kravetz joined MSD Capital, L.P.’s accounting team in 2003 and serviced various investment groups in MSD Capital, L.P. and MSDC Management, L.P., including the special opportunities and credit team, where he served as the lead accountant and Fund Controller from 2008 through February 2015. From 2002 to 2003, he was a Senior Auditor at Deloitte & Touche, LLP where he performed audits on various private equity funds and fund-of-funds. From 2000 to 2002, he was an auditor for Arthur Andersen, LLP where he audited various financial services clients. Mr. Kravetz received a BS in Accounting from Binghamton University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.
John Stephens joined Pomona in 2011. He has 18 years of private equity experience. Prior to Pomona, he co-founded and was managing partner of EM Alternatives, a private equity fund-of-funds investing in Asia and emerging markets. He also was a senior investment analyst with Global Environment Fund, an investor in clean energy, forestry, and infrastructure projects in emerging markets. He began his international career at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. John serves on the Asia Council of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association. He received an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College, and a BA from the University of Washington.
Jonathan Isler is the Chief Financial Officer of Deerfield Management Company where he is responsible for financial reporting, tax and other strategic and compliance related matters associated with the firm and its managed funds. Additionally, Jonathan is actively involved in the structuring of private investments related to the firm's managed funds. Jonathan was formerly a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Transaction Services Group specializing in providing transaction accounting and valuation services to corporate entities and alternative asset managers. Jon Glass is Millennium’s Chief Financial Officer and manages all financial, tax, operational, human resource, and investor relations activities at Millennium. He also serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer overseeing Millennium’s regulatory filings and internal compliance. Jon has more than 15 years of experience in managing the financial operations of private equity funds. Prior to joining Millennium in 2008, Jon was the Vice President of Finance and Tax and Controller of Venrock, one of America’s oldest and most prestigious venture capital firms. Jon played a significant and diversified role in managing Venrock’s financial reporting, portfolio monitoring, and performance functions, overseeing Venrock’s operations, and managing its capital calls and distributions. Jon’s role at Venrock included leading the Firm’s tax function by serving as the point person on transaction structuring, international initiatives, fund liquidation, tax withholding for foreign partners, limited partner and general partner tax planning. Before Venrock, Jon was Controller for Greenbriar Equity Group, a private equity fund focused on transportation companies. Jon’s career includes seven years of Big Four public accounting experience. As a tax manager with Deloitte & Touche, Jon focused on serving private equity clients and other investment partnerships as well as investment banking clients focusing on corporate activities and complex transactions. Jon earned his Master in Business Administration from Fordham University and a Bachelor’s of Science from Boston University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Kevin S. Gahwyler joined Navy Capital, a long-short cannabis hedge fund, as President and Chief Operating Officer on May 1, 2018. Before joining Navy, Mr. Gahwyler was the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Business Development for nine years. Prior to that, Mr. Gahwyler was founder of KenCole Capital, a boutique investment bank specializing in hedge fund structures and marketing. additionally, Mr. Gahwyler served in senior marketing roles at both Pequot Capital and Sagamore Hill. He spent the balance of his 25 years in the hedge fund industry in various investment roles. Mr. Gahwyler graduated from Fairfield University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences in 1985 and from Thunderbird School of Global Management with MIM in 1993.
For the past decade Mendy has been the Chief Financial officer at Third Point LLC, a New York based SEC registered fund with approximately $18B in assets. Third Point pursues a global opportunistic, event‐oriented strategy. The Firm invests across asset classes and strategies including equities, corporate credit, asset‐backed securities, risk arbitrage, and macroeconomic opportunities. Before coming to Third Point, Mr. Haas was the Chief Financial Officer for DiMaio Ahmad Capital, an asset manager with more than $6 billion under management. Previously, he worked at Tiber Asset Management as a Vice President responsible for the firm’s financial and tax reporting, and at Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Haas holds a joint J.D./M.B.A. from Fordham University and a B.S. in Accounting from Brooklyn College.
Michael Williams is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Napier Park Global Capital (“Napier Park”). Napier Park separated from Citigroup’s alternative investment arm, Citi Capital Advisors (“CCA”), in February 2013. Michael was previously the Chief Operating Officer for Citi Capital Advisors responsible for Operations, Finance, Human Resources and IT for the CCA platform as well as Chief Financial Officer for Market Strategies. Prior to joining Citi Capital Advisors in 2007, he was the CFO of Carlton Hill Global Capital (“CHGC”), where he helped launch the firm in 2006. Prior to CHGC, he worked for five years as a Principal in charge of middle office services for credit derivative and structured financial products at Bank of America Securities and he had another five years of similar experience as a Vice President with JPMorgan Chase. As a Director at Barclays Capital, he oversaw certain risk management and product control operations with respect to interest rate and credit derivative products. Michael began his career as a global swap trade analyst for Merrill Lynch. Michael earned a BS degree in Finance from Providence College.
Pamela Hendrickson is the Chief Operating Officer and Vice Chairman of Strategic Initiatives at The Riverside Company, a $7 billion global private equity firm. Riverside partners with small companies, providing both financial and intellectual capital. As COO, Pam manages a number of teams, including deal origination and fundraising, and as Vice Chairman she oversees the development of new initiatives and supervises 2 of Riversides' fund strategies. Pam also sits on the global Riverside Investment Committee, which considers investments in most of Riverside's fund strategies. Since her arrival in 2006, Riverside has invested in over 200 companies and raised nearly $4 billion.
Pam has been an active advocate for private equity through Congressional testimony, television interviews, various printed interviews and op-eds that she has written. She is a past Chairman of the Board of the Association for Corporate Growth, a member of the board of The American Investment Council and she has been a member of the board of the Small Business Investor Alliance. She is also a member of the advisory board of the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University. Prior to joining Riverside, Pam spent 22 years at JPMorgan Chase, 15 of them as Managing Director in a variety of leadership roles. Pam graduated from Duke University in 1982 with an AB in Public Policy and History and has an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Pravin Kanneganti joined BlackGold Capital Management LP in 2012 as the first non-investment team member and the first senior accounting/operational hire. He has served as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer in the past and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. As the COO/CCO, he is responsible for all operations and compliance functions in managing the firm’s various products and serves on the Risk Management and Valuation Committees (Chair). Mr. Kanneganti oversees all third-party service providers including fund administration, prime broker/custody, audit, tax, and legal. For the investment team, he has co-led and guided private transactions through negotiation and structuring alongside the investment team member responsible for the deal. In addition to his core responsibilities, he actively assists in investor relations and marketing with the firm’s client/prospective base which includes global institutional investors as well as endowments, foundations, and family offices. Prior to BlackGold, Mr. Kanneganti was an Associate in the Tax Practice of UHY Advisors focusing on professional service firms, oil and gas companies, and high net worth individuals. Mr. Kanneganti received his BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University and earned an MS in Accounting from Southern Methodist University.
Rhowena Blank is chief financial officer for Mesirow Advanced Strategies, Inc. and is a member of the executive committee. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the firm’s administration and finance activities including accounting, internal fund management, and client reporting. Preceding this role, she was director of the Global Client Relationship Team and chief accounting officer for the firm. Prior to joining Mesirow Advanced Strategies, Inc. in 2010, Rhowena was head of operations and accounting for Man Investments Inc. and an operations officer for Calamos Asset Management. Rhowena earned a BS in accounting and business education and an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition, she is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Sanjay Sanghoee is COO, CFO and CCO of Delos Capital, a lower middle market private equity fund launched in 2013 and based in New York City. Mr. Sanghoee has more than 15 years of experience in investment banking and private equity. He is responsible for coordinating all aspects of Delos’ operations, strategic direction, and fundraising. Mr. Sanghoee has spoken at Super Return conferences in both Boston and Amsterdam and is a periodic contributor to FORTUNE, TIME and other publications on business topics. Prior to joining Delos, Mr. Sanghoee worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions groups at Lazard Freres and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and at Ramius Cowen, a multi-billion dollar multi-strategy hedge fund. Mr. Sanghoee has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BS in Computer Science from the Columbia School of Engineering.
Mr. Petersen is Hudson Bay’s Chief Financial Officer where he is responsible for managing Hudson Bay’s accounting, finance, operations, and financial and tax reporting functions and is also the Chairman of Hudson Bay's Operational Risk Working Group and Valuation Committee. Prior to joining Hudson Bay this year, he spent nine years at TPG-Axon as its Chief Financial Officer from 2011 to 2014 and as its Global Controller from 2005 until 2011. While at TPGA, a global hedge fund with peak assets of $16 billion, he built out and managed the operational risk infrastructure, global control, fund accounting, corporate accounting, budgeting and payroll, global tax and regulatory reporting processes. He was also a member of the TPG-Axon Senior Management, Valuation, Treasury and Credit Risk Committees. Prior to joining TPG-Axon, Mr. Petersen served as a Vice President and Global Operational Risk Manager for the Proprietary Positioning Business (PPB) at JP Morgan Chase from 2001 to 2005 and held various other Middle Office positions for PPB from 1997 to 2001. He started his career at Arthur Andersen LLP in 1994. Mr. Petersen was also a Member of the CFO Steering Committee of the Managed Funds Association.
Mr. Walker is a Partner of Riverstone and serves as the Chief Financial Officer. He is based in New York. Prior to joining Riverstone, Mr. Walker was a Principal at The Carlyle Group serving as the Carlyle/Riverstone Fund Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Carlyle, he held similar positions at Hampshire Equity Partners, a middle market buyout fund managing approximately $900 million of capital commitments; and Ripplewood Holdings, a private equity firm managing approximately $4 billion of capital commitments in the U.S. and Japan. Prior to joining Ripplewood, Mr. Walker was the Director of Financial Reporting and Planning at Asbury Automotive Group (NYSE: ABG), a Ripplewood portfolio company. He started his career in Arthur Andersen’s Metro New York office. Mr. Walker earned a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance from Binghamton University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Ms. Bondi is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Talent Officer of Starr Investment Holdings. She oversees finance, operations, administration, investor services and talent acquisition & development. Ms. Bondi also serves as Chair of the Valuation Committee as well as a member of the Technology Risk and Information Security Committee. Prior to joining Starr, Ms. Bondi worked at Apollo Global Management and Kreos Capital Management. She began her career with Ernst & Young LLP. Ms. Bondi is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and graduated with honors from the University of Bristol with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management.
Walt Tsin is a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Seer Capital Management. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Tsin was a Senior Manager at Rothstein Kass where he led audit teams, consulted on all aspects of hedge fund accounting, regulation and strategy. His specializations include audit and tax services for a variety of investment company vehicles. At Rothstein Kass, Mr. Tsin was also involved in tax planning, advising clients on organizational structures and various compliance issues. Earlier in his career he worked as an assistant controller at Avenue Capital Management and at Ernst & Young as a senior accountant. Mr. Tsin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and earned a Bachelor of Science in business Economics from Syracuse University.
William joined BCM in September 2011. Prior to joining BCM, William was the Director of Investor Relations at Level Global Investors, a $4 billion long/short equity manager. Before joining Level Global, William was a Managing Director at Banc of America Securities in Institutional Equity Trading. He previously held senior roles in the equity divisions of Deutsche Bank and Lazard Frères. Prior to that, he brokered U.S. Government Securities in NY, London, and Tokyo. William currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The GO Project for NYC’s low-income public schools. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at The Berkshire School, where he sits on the endowment and advancement committees.
