Advocating for Architecture: Designing a more Sustainable, Resilient and Livable New York
Benjamin Prosky is Executive Director of the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY), a professional association and the Center for Architecture, a cultural institution. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Communications at Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) until 2016. From 2005 to 2011 Prosky was the Director of Special Events and External Affairs at Columbia University GSAPP. In 2009, while at Columbia, Prosky cofounded ARCHITIZER.COM. From 2002 to 2005, he was Head of Public and University Programs at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Montreal, Canada, and from 1999 to 2002 he was an Exhibitions Coordinator for the Institut francais d’architecture in Paris, France. He currently serves on the board of the Association of Architecture Organizations, the advisory board of The New York Institute of Technology and the alumni board of the Packer Collegiate Institute. Prosky studied Urban Studies at Vassar College, Urban Planning at Columbia University, GSAPP and Higher Education Management at The Harvard Center for Workplace Development.
David Magid is an executive in the energy sector, who has been involved with wholesale and retail electricity markets over the last decade. David founded YSG Solar in 2010 to develop, construct, finance and operate a network of energy assets. YSG leverages solar and energy storage technologies to offer long-term power contracts with clients that include utilities, local municipalities, institutions, and industrial companies. YSG has offices located in both Manhattan and San Francisco, His team develops energy projects nationwide. In 2018, David was featured in Forbes magazine after being selected for their "30 Under 30" list which recognizes the most notable industry figures leading in the energy sector. Aside from energy infrastructure development, David possesses an immense interest in technology, policy, and finance. David is a member of Young Jewish Professionals and active within the Jewish community. In his personal life, David and his wife are involved with many philanthropic organizations and enjoy spending time with family.
