The Evolving Role of the CTO with Buzzfeed CTO, Peter Wang
Peter is the CTO at BuzzFeed, where he oversees and manages all Tech functions across engineering, data, design, and project management to support the business. In his role, he spearheads innovative tech initiatives to help build the future operating model for digital media, and also serves as a strategic partner to the company’s executive team. Prior to joining BuzzFeed, Wang was CTO at The Mighty, the largest global healthcare community, where he managed product, engineering, and growth for the company. He also leverages his expertise in the digital media industry from his previous position as CTO of Refinery 29. Wang brings more than 15 years of tech experience to BuzzFeed from a career spanning across a variety of industries, including venture-backed consumer apps, digital media, SaaS, and financial services platforms. He was CTO at Narrativ, a commerce platform that powers monetization for publishers and retailers, where he doubled revenue within the first year of launch, and Head of Engineering at Buddy Media, where he built out the team and integrated an acquisition by Salesforce. Wang started his career in financial services, managing trading and wealth platforms at Morgan Stanley, Citi, and UBS. He also serves as an advisor to several startups in New York City, such as DEV Community and EarlyBird. He received his B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and lives in Chatham, NJ.

Prior to founding the company, Howard spent eighteen years with Capgemini, one of the worlds leading global consulting firms, as Vice President for Media & Entertainment.
At Capgemini, Howard led the firm's digital media capabilities for North America, driving major e-business transformation projects for clients including General Electric, General Motors, NBC-Universal, Office Depot, Turner Broadcasting, Sprint PCS, Sears, Allstate, Merrill Lynch and Cisco.
Howard speaks regularly at major industry conferences, and is also on the faculty of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts where he teaches courses on the intersection of television industry and the Internet. Howard holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from NYU, and a Masters of Fine Arts in Directing from the USC School of Theater, Film and Television.
