Susan Levy
Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Northern Trust

Susan C. Levy is Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate
Secretary of Northern Trust, a leading provider of wealth management,
asset servicing, asset management and banking to corporations, institutions,
affluent families and individuals. She is a member of the corporation’s
Management Group. As General Counsel, Susan oversees a legal department consisting of more than 117 employees across the globe.

Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2014, Susan was the Managing Partner of
the law firm Jenner & Block, LLP from July 2008 through April 2014. She
began her tenure with Jenner & Block in 1982 and she was a member of the
firm’s litigation department where she regularly advised the firm’s clients on
complex business litigation matters. Susan received a J.D from Harvard Law School and a B.A. magna cum laude
from Cornell University.

Susan serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the
Ravinia Festival of Chicago,as well as the Board of Trustees of the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of the American Law Institute, the
Chicago Network, the Northwestern Law Corporate Counsel Institute, and
the Bank Policy Institute. In 2016 Susan served as the Chair of the Chicago
Bar Foundation’s “Investing in Justice” Campaign.
Susan has received several industry awards and recognition, including:
• The American Jewish Committee’s Learned Hand Award, 2018, recognizing
members of the legal profession
• The Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services William H. Avery
Award, 2016, recognizing her commitment to civic responsibility and pro
bono legal services in the Chicago area
• The Chambers Diversity Award for Corporate Social Responsibility Lawyer
of the Year, 2016
• The Anti-Defamation League’s “Women of Achievement” Award, 2010
• One of ten leading “Women to Watch” in Chicago’s business community,
Crain’s, 2009, and in the publication’s “Who’s Who in Chicago Business”
• One of the top ten leading women lawyers, women business lawyers and
women litigators in Illinois, Leading Lawyers
• She has also been feature in Illinois Super Lawyers and Lawdragon
