Mentorship Roundtable with Stephen Schurr
Stephen Schurr is a short-only portfolio manager at Steve Cohen’s Point72 Asset Management and has been a short-seller since 2006. After graduating from Princeton University in 1993 with a BA in English literature and American Studies, he worked as a financial journalist for 12 years at The Wall Street Journal, TheStreet.com and The Financial Times. He joined Jim Chanos’ short-only Kynikos Associates in 2006, and worked as a short specialist at hedge funds Harrier Hawk and Brahman Capital before joining Point72 in 2018.
JOSHUA PEARL has served as a Managing Director at Brahman Capital, a long/short equity asset manager. He focuses on public equity investments and special situations utilizing a fundamentals-based approach. Previously, he structured high yield financings, leveraged buyouts, and restructurings as a Director at UBS Investment Bank. Prior to UBS, he worked at Moelis & Company and Deutsche Bank. He received his BS in Business from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He is also the co-author of Investment Banking: Valuation, LBOs, M&A, and IPOs.
