Tom is the Managing Partner and founder of Eagle Point Credit Management. He has been involved in the formation and/or monetization of well over 100 CLO transactions across multiple market cycles. Tom led the creation of some of the earliest refinancing CLOs, pioneering techniques which are now commonplace in the market. He has spent his entire career in the structured finance and credit markets.
Prior to founding Eagle Point, Tom was a Managing Director and Head of CLO Banking, where he was responsible for all aspects of RBS's new-issue CLO platform. Prior to joining RBS, Tom was the U.S. country head at AMP Capital/AE Capital, where he was responsible for investing in credit, structured products and other private assets on behalf of several Australian investors. Prior to this, Tom was a Managing Director and head of CLO Banking at Merrill Lynch, where he successfully re-launched the business after several years of limited activity by the firm. Tom also has held leadership positions within CLO and/or securitization groups at JPMorgan, Bear Stearns and Arthur Andersen.
Tom is a Director of Eagle Point Credit Company (NYSE: ECC), Eagle Point Income Company (NYSE: EIC) and Marble Point Loan Financing (LSE: MPLF).
Tom has a B.S. in accounting from Binghamton University and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).
Robert Villani is a partner in the Capital Markets/Structured Finance Group at Clifford Chance. He has extensive experience in structured capital markets with an emphasis on structured credit vehicles such as collateralized loan obligation (CLO) and collateralized debt obligation (CDO) transactions. He has also been involved in traditional and novel asset-backed and mortgaged-backed offerings as well in offerings of both traditional and novel structured credit products, investment funds and other financial instruments.
Robert's experience includes representation of collateral managers, underwriters, issuers, credit enhancers, warehouse providers and other transaction parties in securitizations and repackagings of commercial real estate loans, leveraged loans and other corporate debt instruments, marketplace originated consumer and student loans, automobile and equipment loans and leases, corporate fleet leases, trade receivables, health care receivables, and securities and asset-backed securities. Many of these transactions were among the first of their type. Robert has also advised participants in the creation and maintenance of several investment funds and asset-backed commercial paper programs, particularly those focused on the acquisition of distressed assets, and has substantial experience working with derivatives and related products.
Robert received his JD from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1989, where he was named Associate Editor of the UCLA Law Review. He received his BS, magna cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. He is admitted in California and New York.
