Alan Colberg is president and chief executive officer of Assurant, Inc., and a director of the company's board of directors. He was named president Sept. 16, 2014 and assumed the role of CEO and director on Jan. 1, 2015.
Mr. Colberg is responsible for building a stronger Assurant for the future and driving profitable growth that leads to outperformance for Assurant’s customers, employees and shareholders. Under his leadership, in April 2015, Assurant realigned its business strategy to build upon its core capabilities and further capitalize on global trends in the housing and lifestyle protection markets. The strategy includes a sharper focus on understanding consumers in order to deliver integrated products and services that address their needs and generate opportunities for growth.
In late 2017, Mr. Colberg led Assurant’s $2.5 Billion acquisition of The Warranty Group, making Assurant the premier global lifestyle provider and solidifying its position as a global leader in vehicle protection, now protecting more than 40 million vehicles worldwide.
Mr. Colberg champions innovation and an “enterprise mindset” of working collaboratively across the organization in order to better serve customers around the world.
Previously, Mr. Colberg served as Assurant's executive vice president of marketing and business development, managing Assurant strategy development and overseeing marketing, mergers and acquisitions, business growth and innovation initiatives. He played an integral role in supporting strategies that helped reposition the company for profitable growth after the financial crisis.
Before joining Assurant in March 2011, Mr. Colberg was a consultant for Bain & Company, Inc., for 22 years, serving as an advisor to Assurant during much of this time. While at Bain he founded and then led Bain’s Atlanta office for more than a decade and served as Bain’s global practice leader for Financial Services.
Mr. Colberg is a passionate advocate for education initiatives and has supported strengthening the company’s commitment to financial literacy. This has led Assurant to launch financial education initiatives for employees within the company and strengthen its commitment to helping future generations succeed. As a trustee of the Assurant Foundation, he has overseen an increased commitment to Junior Achievement in Georgia. Assurant also partners with JA across the country through volunteerism and donations.
Mr. Colberg served on the board of directors for CarMax (NYSE: KMX) from 2015-2018, and as a chair of the company’s Nominating and Governance Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Business Roundtable and the Wall Street Journal CEO Council. Previously he served on the boards of the Woodruff Arts Center, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and as chairman of the board of the Atlanta International School.
In 2010, Consulting Magazine named him one of the world's top 25 consultants, recognizing him for demonstrated excellence in the financial services sector.
Mr. Colberg holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance with highest honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Amy Miller is the Corporate Secretary of New York Life Insurance Company, where she handles a wide array of corporate governance, regulatory and other matters. She has worked at New York Life since 2006, and has held positions of increasing responsibility, ranging from acting as the lead attorney to New York Life’s retail investment advisory arm to, most recently, the role of Chief Corporate Counsel. Prior to joining New York Life, Amy was an associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell. She received a B.A. in biology with honors from the University of Chicago, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two young children.
Fernando Levy is a successful leader and manager with a philosophy of actionable strategy. A business driven Transformation executive, with expertise in technology, finance and business development. With focus in Insurance, Media/Digital; Consumer and Financial Services; he has completed over 20 transformations and M&A global transactions/integrations; market entry campaigns; innovation growth strategies; and business process redesign efforts across N.A., EMEA, LatAm and India.
Fernando Levy joined AIG in 2014 to lead the transformation of the Insurance models from the perspective of Data, serving as CFO and leading strategic initiatives for the Enterprise Data Management team. Over the last 2 years, Fernando has focused in innovation, and business transformation leveraging new disruptive technologies and implementing customer centric design thinking ideas. He has made the Warranty Services IT team, a more agile, business-driven organization, centered in serving Client and its customer needs. He spearheaded the Service Genie customer solutions start-up, leveraging Conversational AI, IoT and Augmented reality to solve warranty challenges.
Mr. Levy has more than 20 years of strategic and digital consulting experience in M&A, global transformations, growth innovation and market/ product entry; topped with corporate roles in Technology, Finance, Marketing and Business Development.
Prior to joining AIG, Mr. Levy worked at R/GA Media Group, Avaya and Booz&Co, developing and implementing transformational and growth opportunities due to digital and data disruption in the marketplace across Insurance, Financial Services, Consumer and Media industries.
Mr. Levy earned a B.A. degree in Business Administration from University of San Andres, in Argentina and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia Business School in Strategy and Finance, focused in Media, Entertainment & Communications. He speaks fluent Spanish, English, French and professional Portuguese.
Meir Lewis is the Head of Insurance Investment Banking for the Americas at Deutsche Bank Securities since September 2017. He has nearly 20 years’ of investment banking experience, including the prior 7 years at Morgan Stanley, where he served as a Managing Director of Insurance Investment Banking. He started his career at Citi where he spent 10 years in both Tel Aviv and New York. Over the course of his career, Meir has focused on M&A transaction, and equity and debt financings for insurance clients.
Meir has a long history with Alan Colberg and Assurant. In 2004, Meir was part of the original IPO team for Assurant and led the inaugural debt offering upon Assurant’s separation from its then parent Fortis. Meir has worked on several M&A transactions either on behalf of, or across the table from Assurant. Through these interactions, Meir has developed a deep respect for Alan’s innovative vision of the insurance sector as well as his disciplined approach to implementation.
Meir is a CFA Charterholder. He has a B.A. in Mathematics from Yeshiva College, where he currently serves on the Board of Overseers. He is also a Board member of Camp Moshava – Indian Orchard, one of the largest sleep away camps in the United States. He lives in Westchester with his wife Dassi, a schoolteacher, and their 5 children.
Mickey joined International Planning Alliance in 2014 to serve his community with financial strategies for business, insurance, and estate planning. His personalized financial plans are structured to protect and ensure assets and income, while mirroring ways to alleviate tax exposure. Mickey carries the The Financial Services Certified Professional® (FSCP®) designation-- offering the most complete product knowledge, and marketing and planning skills training available to financial services professionals today. He holds his Life, Accident, Health & Title licenses as well as his Series 7 & 66.
He attended Magen David Yeshivah High School and Brooklyn College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Management, and Finance. Mickey married in May 2015 and splits time between Brooklyn, NY and Deal, NJ with his wife Inez and daughter.
