Gary Lieberman is the Founder and CEO of West Side Advisors, a boutique investment firm specializing in relative value strategies within U.S. structured products. Gary is also the Chairman and CEO of Laurel Road Bank, an FDIC-insured bank specializing in student loan refinance, personal loans and mortgages. Under Gary’s tutelage, Laurel Road has transformed from a local community bank to a Fintech innovator, originating over $4 billion in student loans in just 5 years through its online lending platform.
Prior to founding West Side in 1997 and acquiring Laurel Road Bank (formerly Darien Rowayton Bank) in 2010, Gary was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns & Co. and President of Bear Stearns Investment Advisors. Before that, he was CEO of L.F. Rothschild Holdings and Manager of the Mortgage-Backed Security Department and the Asset-Backed Finance Group at Merrill Lynch. Gary started his career in Institutional Sales at Salomon Brothers, Inc.
Gary serves on the Board of Trustees for the Riverdale Country School and the Board of Directors for non-profit organizations Urban Dove, the Leif Nissen Foundation and the Evans Team Foundation.
Gary received a B.A. from Emory University and an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School
